Brandeis International Business School Summer Fellowship
Criteria, Deadline & Eligibility

The Brandeis International Business School Summer Fellowship provides support to students participating in full time, unpaid internships during the summer term. These fellowships are intended to help pay for living expenses.

Eligible students must apply by May 31, 2024 to be considered. See more information below.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have accepted a full time, unpaid internship prior to submitting their application.

  • Internships must equal 25 or more hours per week for a minimum of 8-12 weeks over the summer. Academic year opportunities do not qualify.

  • Internships must be unpaid. You may not receive any additional funding for the internship (i.e., stipends from Brandeis or outside sources, housing/flight/food allowances, etc.)

  • Funding will be subject to taxes. As such, applicants must be able to accept taxable income in order to qualify.

  • Applicants must be enrolled as International Business School graduate students, in good academic and community standing, at the time of the internship. May 2024 graduates do not qualify.

Selection Criteria and Payment

The selection committee evaluates applications on their completeness, persuasiveness, and professional presentation. It is critical for applicants to demonstrate how their internship supports their career goals through the following documentation: resume, personal statement, job description and offer letter.

Eligible students may be awarded a fellowship stipend (amounts vary, but typically range from $1000 - $2000, pre tax) based on the strength of their application.

Please note: This is a standalone application. All international students must discuss summer internships directly with their program advisor and ISSO to make sure they are in compliance with course and CPT requirements.

Application Logistics

Students pursuing a formal internship must document all additional funding associated with the opportunity and submit the following as a single PDF (Last Name_First Name_Fellowship):

  • Resume

  • Personal Statement: Brief essay (500 words) describing the opportunity and its value to your career. Your essay should summarize the organization, explain how the internship supports your personal and professional career goals, and describe why you are pursuing this specific internship opportunity.

  • Job Description

  • Offer Letter: Letter written on company letterhead and signed by a company official (preferably the supervisor) that includes specific dates of employment, confirmation that the internship is unpaid and an outline of learning goals.
